NER Measure 3.3 Re-Opening

Measure 3.3 – Tourism Infrastructure

NER will be open for applications for measure 3.3 from the rural areas of Ballymena, Ballymoney, Coleraine, Larne and Moyle from Monday 13th February 2012 until Friday 2nd March 2012.

Applications should be completed online at the www.eugrants.org website.  If internet access is unavailable paper copies can be obtained by contacting programme staff or by downloading the form from the www.northeastrdp.com website.

Guidance notes are available for downloading on the www.northeastrdp.com website and programme staff are also available for further assistance. 

Please Note:

- Projects must have statutory approvals in place to be assessed

- Infrastructure projects will be prioritised

- Funds are limited and therefore not all projects which achieve the scoring threshold may be funded

We would encourage all potential applicants to contact programme staff to check project eligibility prior to completing an application form.

January 2012 - North-East Region spend passes £2m

The North-East Region Rural Development Programme has now paid out well of £2m in grant aid to projects located within the rural areas of Ballymena, Ballymoney, Coleraine, Larne and Moyle. 

To date there have been over 700 applications with almost 250 offers of grant worth over £5 million.

NER are still keen to receive applications about potential projects, especially in Measures 3.1, 3.2 and 3.6, when we open our calls.

10th March 2011 - North-East Region spends its first £1m

The North-East Region Rural Development Programme is now getting into its stride.  To date there has been over 400 applications with nearly 150 offers of grant worth nearly £3 million.  To date as the headline states we have now given out £1 million in grant aid.  We would also hope to give out well over £2 million in the coming year.

The Programme is now open for applications until the 3rd May 2011. It will re-open again in the autumn.  Clr William King Chair of the Local Action Group commented:

“There is a real opportunity for a range of rural interests and businesses to take advantage of this generous grant aid”

Alderman James Alexander Chair of the Joint Council Committee also stated:

“I would be keen that applicants would get in touch with programme staff in Ballymena for more information and support”

The programme can help a range of businesses, communities and organisations which operate in the rural areas of Coleraine, Moyle, Larne, Ballymoney and Ballymena Council areas (excludes the main towns).

Grants are available for a range of activities to support:

  • Farm diversification
  • Small local businesses (9 or less employees)
  • Tourism activities
  • Community services
  • Village renewal
  • Conservation and heritage

 

Grants in the private sector are up to £50,000 at 50% and up to £250,000 at 75% in the social economy, council and community sector.

Types of projects which we have funded to date include:

Small engineering company                            £31,000

Specialist joinery                                           £19,000

Activity Centre                                               £19,000

Community buildings                                    £109,000

Recycling business                                        £50,000

New Festival                                                  £14,000

Craft Business                                               £14,000

Private Allotments                                          £11,000

Day care nursery                                            £30,000

Village Renewal Scheme                                 £65,500

There are many more types of projects but this gives a flavour of the programme.

NER staff are happy to discuss potential project with applicants and indeed would encourage anyone interested in apply to contact the office before proceeding.
